Job summary

Metanoia Youth Leadership Academy (MYLA) is seeking Afterschool Instructors in the Charleston, SC area to deliver mission-aligned programming that supports academics, character development, leadership, and social-emotional well-being.

You will work under the Director of Programs or Program Manager to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment, build strong relationships with students and families, and contribute to program operations and field trip planning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Experience with children and youth is welcome but not required.
• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently within Metanoia's mission and standards.
• Knowledge of virtual and in-person classroom procedures and management.
• Ability to relate to children and reinforce lessons taught during class time.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to collaborate with Directors, Managers, and fellow instructors.
• Commitment to a positive, inclusive learning environment and safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver program curriculum to students according to Metanoia standards.
• Assist scholars with homework and plan supplementary activities for skill development.
• Monitor participation and behavior per Metanoia policies.
• Build positive relationships with scholars, families, staff, and community.
• Communicate scholar progress and needs to Youth Director or Program Manager.
• Ensure safety and security policies are followed to maintain a safe environment.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Assist with planning field trips and family night events.
• Maintain attendance, incident reports, and other required data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
