Job summary

Chico Teen Center in Chico, CA is seeking a Youth Development Counselor to supervise and implement engaging programs for Club members, ensuring safety and a positive environment under the Site Director’s guidance. The role emphasizes cooperation, friendliness and mission alignment to empower youth.

Responsibilities include program development, community engagement, and supporting academic enrichment while maintaining facilities and equipment and coordinating volunteers and events.

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR certification required.
• TB test clearance required.
• Pass FBI/DOJ Live Scan and background check.
• Driver approval through insurance and policies is required.
• 1–2 years experience in Recreation or Child Development is a plus.
• Knowledge of youth development principles, education programs, mentoring and positive behavior guidance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, develop and implement programs.
• Maintain upkeep, safety and appearance of the Club.
• Maintain paperwork to track programs, member participation and grants.
• Coordinate and implement spontaneous recreational activities.
• Promote activities via bulletin boards, newsletters, flyers, and announcements.
• Assist in planning and implementation of academic enrichment.
• Maintain recreation equipment and facilities; report needs to supervisor.
• Work with staff and parents to recognize members for good work and manage disciplinary issues.
• Provide direction for volunteers to stimulate participation.
• Provide customer service by greeting the public, parents and members and answering questions.
