Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA, Inc. is seeking School Age Child Care (SACC) Site Supervisors for on-site, afterschool programs in Plainfield, NJ. You will supervise children, develop engaging activities, and support safe, nurturing environments for 5–13-year-olds.

The role emphasizes relationship-building with children and caregivers, along with collaboration with program staff. Spanish bilingual preferred; transportation and schedule flexibility often required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a High School Diploma or a Bachelor's degree in childcare, education, or a related field.
• OR have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children aged 5-12 years.
• Must be capable of writing and executing daily, weekly, and/or themed lesson plans.
• Must have experience working with children in a structured group setting.
• Must have the ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
• Must complete all required background checks, training, and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of 15–100 children at the site.
• Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities.
• Create engaging games and activities for ages 5–13.
• Build positive relationships with kids and caregivers.
• Maintain discipline per policy and safety guidelines.
• Lead activities, field trips, and large/small group games.
• Communicate needs and incidents to leadership and parents.
• Prepare a clean, organized, stimulating space for activities.
