Job Location: Columbus, OH 43223

Salary Range: $19.00 - $19.00

Basic Function: Responsible for safely transporting students (grades K-8) to and from the afterschool program while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment, basic van upkeep, such as refueling, and scheduling maintenance. In addition to transportation duties, the driver will assist with general program operations, including but not limited to organization, maintenance, cleaning and performing program-related assignments as needed by the Site Coordinator. Candidates must be able to drive a 15-passenger van to transport students ages 5-13 years old for pick-ups and drop-offs each program day and complete the required safety training course and upkeep/maintenance on the van.

This position is for 16 hours per week on the following days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday between the hours of 2 pm to 7 pm at our Sullivant location located at 791 Griggs Avenue, Columbus, OH, 43223.

Responsibilities
  1. Safely transport students from designated pickup locations to the afterschool program and return them home at the end of the program.
  2. Ensure all students are securely fastened in seat belts or child safety seats asrequired.
  3. Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety compliance.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of the van, including refueling, oilchanges, and reporting any needed repairs.
  5. Assist with the management of day-to-day operations of the program sites, including organization, maintenance, cleaning, safety, and security.
  6. Foster a positive and supportive environment for students during transportation and program hours.
  7. Assist in other duties as required by the Site Coordinator.

  • Ability to manage student behavior and maintain a safe, respectful atmosphere.

  • Ability to perform light maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, staff, and families.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience driving children (e.g., school bus, daycare transportation, community programs) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet all state/federal transportation requirements for child passenger safety.
