Job summary

Commonpoint Queens is seeking an After School Group Leader within the Youth Education Services Department to supervise students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, deliver engaging activities, provide academic support, and foster inclusive relationships that support youth development and well-being.

You will work under the Assistant Program Director and Program Director, collaborate with staff to maintain safety, implement SEL practices, and help run afterschool programs aligned with the

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children under the age of 13.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision of students from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, ensuring a safe, inclusive program environment.
• Provide homework assistance and encourage positive study habits while supporting students’ academic success.
• Plan and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities aligned with the program schedule and site plan.
• Model respectful behavior, reinforce program expectations, and use positive behavior management strategies to support student success.
• Safely supervise and support students as they transition between activities, maintaining structure and engagement throughout the program.
• Complete daily attendance and assist with required program documentation accurately and on time.
• Promptly communicate participant concerns, behavioral issues, injuries, or program-related concerns to the Program Director or Assistant Program Director.
• Help organize, prepare, and maintain activity spaces and materials to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
