Job summary

The YMCA of Western North Carolina seeks an Afterschool Counselor II to supervise middle-school participants in Horizons after-school program. You will lead activities that support academic and social growth in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive setting.

You will use program resources provided by the Coordinator, introduce new skills, and enhance learning throughout activities while collaborating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience working with children or teens is required.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications and training.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and engagement of all children in the group.
• Provide homework support and encourage academic progress.
• Follow lesson plans and address individual needs.
• Create a nurturing environment that welcomes every child.
• Maintain communication with supervisor and staff for resources.
• Keep accurate records while respecting privacy and achievements.
• Engage with parents at events to support child development.
