Job summary

The Westfield Area YMCA is seeking Lead Counselors for school age children (K-5th) at our Garwood location. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess basic experience with children. Responsibilities include supervising outdoor activities, setting up classrooms, and planning engaging activities.

Pay ranges from $16 to $18.50 per hour based on experience and education. Benefits include complimentary YMCA membership, employee referral bonuses, and discounts on childcare programs.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Basic experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to work as a team with other YMCA staff members.

Responsibilities

• Accompany children to playground and supervise activities.
• Set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner.
• Assist with transporting children by bus as needed.
• Help plan free play and learning center activities.
• Use positive reinforcement to ensure a fun and safe environment.
