Job summary

The Westfield Area YMCA is seeking After Care Counselors at our Cranford location for school age children (K-5th). In this role, you will supervise activities, ensure a safe environment, and plan engaging activities.

Starting in late August, shifts are Monday to Friday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and have a basic experience working with children. Benefits include a complimentary YMCA membership and more.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
• Basic experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to work as a team with other YMCA staff members.

Responsibilities

• Supervise activities like outdoor play and fire drills.
• Set up the classroom for activities safely.

• Help plan activities for free play and learning.

The Westfield Area YMCA is looking for caring, supportive and responsible individuals to join our team as After Care Counselors for school age children (K-5th) at our Cranford location. We are seeking candidates to work various shifts Monday through Friday from 2:00pm-6:00pm, starting in late August.

Responsibilities

• Accompany children (to playground, and exterior of building) in order to supervise activities, such as outdoor play and fire drills.
• Must be able to set up the classroom for activities in a safe manner.
• Assist with transporting children by bus, as needed, always following bus policy and procedures.
• Help plan free play and learning center activities.
• Use positive reinforcement and ensure a fun and safe environment for all participants in the program.
• Be enthusiastic and encourage children's involvement.

Location

Elementary schools through Westfield

Pay

Minors: $16.00 per hour
Adults: $16.50 - $19.50 per hour, commensurate with education and experience
