Job summary

King Street Center, Burlington, VT, is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our K-5 Afterschool Program team. We currently have openings for candidates who are passionate about youth development, education, equity, and creating positive experiences for elementary-aged children.

K-5 Program Staff & Lead positions offer part-time (≈21 hours/week) and full-time (≈30 hours/week) options with corresponding afternoon schedules.

Qualifications

High school diploma required.
Experience with children or youth.
Experience with/strong understanding of BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, low-income communities.
Strong communication, organization, relationship-building skills.
Work collaboratively, maintain professional standards.
Willingness to complete required background checks and trainings.

Responsibilities

Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for elementary-aged youth.
Build positive relationships with students and families.
Lead and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
Support literacy, math, homework help, and social-emotional learning.
Foster positive behavior and help students develop life skills.
Supervise youth during programming, transitions, field trips, outdoor activities.
Collaborate with staff, volunteers, families, and community partners.
Maintain program spaces, ensure compliance with safety and licensing standards.
