Burlington School District is seeking Afterschool Core Staff for Elementary students in Burlington, Vermont. The role involves planning engaging activities, supervising children, and collaborating with staff to maintain a safe, supportive environment for diverse youth.

Position is regular part-time with a schedule including afternoons; requires high school diploma and ability to pass a background check. Salary is up to $19 per hour, with standard program expectations and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work at least 1 day a week from 2:00-3:15 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
• Ability to effectively manage challenging student behaviors.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent communication with parents, staff and coworkers.
• Ability to pass a criminal record and background check.
• Hold current first aid/CPR certification or willing to be trained.

Responsibilities

• Follow and enforce all program, department, and school rules and regulations.
• Lead a group of up to 10-12 students through activities planned by self or with other staff as directed by the site leader.
• Plan and lead activities and submit weekly lesson plans when appropriate.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings.
• Engage students, provide leadership, and address challenges.
• Provide academic support during Homework Help.
• Maintain safe environments and report safety deficiencies.
• Demonstrate cultural competence and respond to challenging situations appropriately.
• Report accidents/incidents and administer First Aid/CPR as required.
• Participate in program evaluation and welcome feedback.
