King Street Center, Burlington, VT, is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our K-5 Afterschool Program team. We currently have openings for candidates who are passionate about youth development, education, equity, and creating positive experiences for elementary-aged children.
K-5 Program Staff & Lead positions offer part-time (≈21 hours/week) and full-time (≈30 hours/week) options with corresponding afternoon schedules.

We currently have several openings for candidates who are passionate about youth development, education, equity, and creating positive experiences for elementary-aged children.
Part-time, approximately 21 hours/week during school year
Typical schedule: Monday-Friday afternoons (must be available for at least 3 shifts/week)
$19-$21/hour
Full-time, 30 hours/week, year-round
Monday-Friday, 12:00-6:00 PM
$22-$24/hour
Additional hours available during school breaks/summer programming
Responsibilities may include:
Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for elementary-aged youth
Build positive relationships with students and families
Lead and facilitate engaging educational, recreational, and enrichment activities
Support literacy, math, homework help, and social-emotional learning
Foster positive behavior and help students develop life skills
Supervise youth during programming, transitions, field trips, outdoor activities
Collaborate with staff, volunteers, families, and community partners
Maintain program spaces, ensure compliance with safety and licensing standards
Required:
High school diploma
Experience with children or youth
Experience with/strong understanding of BIPOC, immigrant, refugee, low-income communities
Strong communication, organization, relationship-building skills
Work collaboratively, maintain professional standards
Willingness to complete required background checks and trainings
Preferred:
Experience in afterschool, education, childcare, mentoring, or youth development settings
Knowledge of child development/classroom management
Experience supporting literacy, math, arts, enrichment, or social-emotional learning
Leadership experience
Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, or de-escalation training
Valid driver’s license (Lead candidates)
Indoor/outdoor activities year-round, including active games, local walks, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as appropriate.
