Job summary

Propel Schools Opportunities is seeking Afterschool Substitute Classroom Leads to join our team at multiple campuses in Pennsylvania. The role supports afterschool programming from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with no programs on Fridays or holidays.

Staff are expected to build positive relationships with scholars, families, and school staff while delivering safe, engaging enrichment activities.

Qualifications

S. or MA in Education or related field or equivalent training.
Experience in Propel Afterschool, Summer Camp, or afterschool programs.
Experience as teacher or paraprofessional in a school setting.
Experience working with at-risk populations preferred.
Belief in a culture of dignity and respect for scholars and staff.

Responsibilities

Lead a group of scholars through daily enrichment activities and routines.
Facilitate engaging enrichment activities during teacher-led time.
Foster a welcoming classroom culture where every scholar feels included.
Maintain active engagement with scholars through games, discussions, and hands-on learning.
Support positive behavior through relationships, clear expectations, and positive reinforcement.
Assist with homework support and academic enrichment activities.
Supervise transitions, meals, outdoor play, and field trips while ensuring safety.
Collaborate with Site Coordinator, Artists, and staff to support program success.
Communicate professionally with scholars, families, and school staff.
Be flexible and willing to assist wherever needed.
