Job summary

Utah State University Extension in Salt Lake County is seeking educators to run enriching afterschool clubs for students in Kearns and Magna, Utah. Clubs cover diverse subjects and run 1.5 hours daily during 9–10 week quarters, with some evenings for family nights.

Educators may teach multiple clubs with flexible days and times, typically 3:30–6:30 pm. Responsibilities include planning and teaching clubs weekly, tracking attendance, attending training, and participating in 4-H events.

Overview

The Salt Lake County Office of Utah State University Extension seeks qualified individuals who would be responsible for providing enriching afterschool clubs for students in Kearns and Magna, Utah. We need educators who have skill, or are willing to learn skills, in a variety of subject areas such as, but not limited to: Sewing, STEM, Cake Decorating, Music, Art, etc. Clubs typically run 1.5 hours a day for 9-10 week quarters. Each club requires 2.5 hours/day/week and Educators can teach multiple clubs a week. Number of days worked each week is flexible. Clubs take place between 3:30 and 6:30 pm. Some evening work is required for family nights. Preparation hours beyond the 3:30-6:30pm classes can be completed at flexible times a day.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engagin afterschool clubs at least once a week for 8-10 weeks. You might be able to teach multiple days a week and/or for multiple club cycles
• Keep an attendance record of those students who attend your club
• Attend required training
• Comply with DWS licensed exempt requirements
• Attend 4-H Afterschool events such as 4-H service projects, and club showcase
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must work effectively with youth, families, and school

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with youth
• Past experience in the 4-H Program as a youth or volunteer
• Skills related to STEM and other afterschool subject matter
