Job summary

University of Pennsylvania's Netter Center for Community Partnerships seeks a UACS Teacher Partner to provide high-quality afterschool instruction for K-16+ students in West Philadelphia. The role involves executing curriculum, engaging youth with energetic teaching, and collaborating with Penn students and staff.

The position is a temporary, non-exempt role reporting to the Site Coordinator and Penn’s UACS Director of Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications

• BA, BS degree required.
• Able to actively engage youth in a variety of learning and enrichment areas and activities.
• Knowledge of grade-level content, activities and curricula for students.
• Completion and passing of funder-required compliance documentation and all Federal and State background checks/clearances (PATCH, PA Child Abuse, FBI, NSOR, Mandated Reporter, Act 168).
• The University does not accept PATCH or PA Child Abuse documents issued by other organizations; FBI clearance acceptable only if processed by PA DHS.
• Experience with School District of Philadelphia, urban settings and diverse student populations preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• BE POSITIVE, HIGH ENERGY AND ENGAGING!!
• Review, plan and implement curriculum provided by the program or other source; adapt as needed to meet students' needs and interests.
• Modify curricula to meet academic enrichment program goals as needed.
• Meet with the Director of Teaching and Learning 2-3 times per semester.
• Plan activities with other staff; prepare lessons.
• Attend all UACS staff trainings and meetings as available.
• Manage required paperwork as directed.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of materials and equipment including preparing and securing instructional spaces.
• Be familiar with and strive to be in compliance with the Netter Center University-Assisted Community Schools Expectations and School Dist. Of Phila. Core Standards for Youth Programs and supervise youth accordingly.
