Job summary

BBA Afterschool Inc. is hiring energetic After-School Instructors to teach Chess or STEM to elementary students in Prince George's County. This part-time, after-school role runs weekdays from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM with 1.5-hour sessions; curriculum and equipment are provided.

Ideal candidates are college students pursuing education, engineering, CS, math, science, or related fields who enjoy engaging learners. No weekends, with opportunities for advancement within BBA Afterschool.

Qualifications

• Experience playing or teaching Chess, or experience with STEM subjects, is preferred but not required.
• Comfortable working with children in grades K through 5.
• Reliable transportation to schools throughout Prince George's County.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Must successfully complete the required Prince George's County Public Schools background check and fingerprinting process.

Responsibilities

• Teach elementary students either Chess or STEM activities
• Follow BBA's structured curriculum and lesson plans
• Create a fun, safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
• Supervise groups of approximately 15 to 25 students
• Encourage critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, and teamwork
• Communicate professionally with school staff and BBA leadership
