Job summary

The City of Graham is seeking a part-time afterschool program staff member to supervise and lead activities for Kindergarten through 8th grade. You will support daily program operations, help with homework, and create a safe, engaging environment after school.

Under supervision, you will plan crafts, sports, games, and field trips, monitor behavior, and communicate safety concerns to the Youth Programs Supervisor. Prior experience with school-aged children is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules and expectations for age-appropriate activities.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the work assigned.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to perform custodial duties.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
• Prior experience working with school-aged children.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children divided into groups based on grade (K-8th).
• Assist participants with homework and other educational activities.
• Plan, organize, and implement activities including crafts, sports, wellness, games, music, drama, field trips, etc.
• Monitor participant behavior and address disciplinary concerns appropriately.
• Communicate safety concerns, injuries, or other incidents to the supervisor.
• Collect data for daily check-in and check-out reports and maintain records.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of activities and cleaning of program area.
• Maintain positive relations with children, parents, staff, etc.
• Attend program activities, staff meetings, trainings, etc.
• Provide emergency response as per training when necessary.
