Job summary

State Street Academy is hiring a full-time Custodian to join the team. The position runs from 2:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. daily at our Bay City, Michigan location. The custodian will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and students.

The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of performing routine cleaning and minor repairs while adhering to safety protocols. Prior custodial experience is preferred, and the role requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of assigned buildings, equipment, and grounds.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, countertops, and windows.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
• Restock supplies in restrooms and break rooms as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify cleaning needs and report maintenance issues to management.
• Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of meeting rooms, events, and special functions as required.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
