Job summary

Portage Township Schools seeks an Afternoon Custodian to provide custodial services at the assigned building, ensuring a clean, safe environment for students and staff. The role includes cleaning floors, carpets, windows, and restrooms, with light maintenance duties and securing building entrances.

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 2:30 pm–11:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Immediate start; benefits described in the employee handbook. Salary is $14 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and move objects weighing up to 100 lbs with equipment.
• Able to walk and stand for prolonged periods as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Clean, dust mop, scrub and wax floors and operate floor scrubber.
• Shampoo carpeting and vacuum rooms as needed.
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose of refuse; stock dispensers.
• Change bulbs; clean boards, chairs and desktops.
• Clean windows, walls, sinks and plumbing fixtures; disinfect as assigned.
• Move furniture and equipment; secure all building entrances/exits.
• Maintain custodial storage area; report supply needs.
