Job summary

Alpena Public Schools is seeking a full-time Afternoon Custodian to support building cleanliness and safety. Building to be determined. The role involves custodial and minor maintenance tasks to help maintain facilities for students and staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and preferred custodial experience; a criminal history check is required for all employees. The position reports to the Supervisor of Facilities and is 1.0 FTE with a union group USW 207.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; One year of school building or similar custodial experience is preferred.
• All public school employees are required to undergo a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• Safely performs custodial cleaning using standard industrial equipment, cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Performs minor maintenance on plumbing, custodial equipment, ventilation, kitchen equipment, building structure and hardware.
• Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.
• Maintains building and grounds security by locking the building each school day.
• Maintains work-related records and prepares various reports as directed.
