Job summary

Bethel School District is seeking a 1:1 afternoon support paraeducator for non-mainstream special education in a self-contained classroom. Responsibilities include assisting certificated staff, instructing students individually or in small groups, and supervising behavior while supporting basic life skills and personal care needs.

Applicants must hold a high school diploma (or equivalent) and ideally an AA degree or higher; pass required assessments; and complete Right Response Training within

Qualifications

• Experience working with school age children and special needs students preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Willing to be trained in medical procedures if necessary.
• Must meet district minimum employment requirements and provide documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support certificated staff with instructional and non-instructional activities for non-mainstreamed special education students.
• Instruct students individually or in small groups and monitor safety and behavior.
• Assist with basic life skills, toileting and personal care needs as required.
• Maintain classroom records, prepare materials and communicate student progress to staff.
