Job summary

The Learning Experience in Hoboken is seeking a dependable Lead Aftercare Teacher to supervise and enrich the school-age aftercare program. You will lead the 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM sessions, ensure a safe and supportive environment, and guide children through homework and activities.

Qualifications

• Have at least six months of professional teaching/childcare experience; one year or more is preferred.
• High school diploma/GED required; Associate degree or higher in ECE or related field is preferred.
• Can meet all applicable background screening and state licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Walk to local Hoboken schools to safely pick up children and escort them back to the center.
• Lead the daily Aftercare classroom routine from 2:00 PM-7:00 PM.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support to school-age children.
• Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lessons, projects, games, and activities.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Supervise children during transitions, activities, snack, homework, and play.
• Communicate regularly with families about their child's afternoon.
• Work with the leadership team and fellow teachers to ensure a smooth Aftercare program.
• Follow all TLE policies, procedures, and state licensing and safety requirements.

Education

High school diploma/GED (required)

Associate degree or higher in ECE or Education (preferred)
