Job summary

The Learning Experience in Hoboken is seeking a dependable, energetic Lead Aftercare Teacher to lead our school‑age Aftercare program. You will create a safe, structured, and fun afternoon experience for children and support families with homework and activities.

Qualifications

• Have at least six months of professional teaching/childcare experience; one year or more is preferred.
• High school diploma/GED required; Associate degree or higher in ECE, Education, or a related field is preferred.
• Comfortable walking locally to pick up children from area schools.

Responsibilities

• Walk to local Hoboken schools to safely pick up children and escort them back to the center.
• Lead the daily Aftercare classroom routine from 2:00 PM-7:00 PM.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support to school-age children.
• Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans, projects, games, and activities.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Supervise children during transitions, activities, snack, homework, and play.
• Build positive relationships with children and help make Aftercare something they look forward to each day.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families about their child's afternoon.
• Work closely with the leadership team and fellow teachers to ensure a smooth and successful Aftercare program.
• Follow all TLE policies, procedures, and applicable state licensing and safety requirements.
