Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks an Aftercare Aide to support a safe, nurturing, faith-filled environment for students after school hours.

You will supervise, guide activities, and ensure aftercare procedures align with school and diocesan guidelines. Responsibilities include supervising students, assisting with homework, organizing activities, maintaining discipline, and communicating with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (some college or childcare experience preferred).
• Experience working with children in a school, daycare, or similar setting.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during after-school hours in a safe, positive, and structured setting.
• Support and uphold the Catholic identity and mission of the school through words, actions, and example.
• Assist students with homework or quiet activities as needed.
• Organize and participate in recreational, arts and crafts, and enrichment activities.
• Maintain discipline consistent with school policies and the Christian values of respect and care.
• Monitor sign-in/sign-out procedures to ensure accurate attendance records.
• Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and the aftercare coordinator regarding student behavior or concerns.
• Set up and clean up materials, snacks, and play areas daily. Follow all safety, emergency, and child protection protocols
