Job summary

YMCA Beacons School Success Lead at Edison High School in Minneapolis, MN, is a part-time after-school role (Mon-Thu) offering a free Y membership and growth opportunities. The Beacons program engages youth in high-quality enrichment activities while supporting school-based after-school and summer programs for grades K–12 and their families.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18.
• Experience and/or education in youth studies, child development, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and facilitate youth development programming.
• Excellent interpersonal communications and mediation skills.
• Willingness to work with people of diverse populations.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with school age children in an enrichment setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement enrichment curriculum and program activities with a group of young people.
• Provide work direction to program staff and volunteers while on duty.
• Evaluate the program on a continuous basis and recommend needed changes to the Beacons School Success Sr. Coordinator and/or Program Director.
• Ensure that the center and classroom spaces are kept clean and organized.
• Perform administrative activities to support the program, including collecting daily attendance.
• Assist in the promotion of the program including recruiting young people to program, communication to families and school staff.
