Job summary

YMCA Beacons School Success Lead at Nellie Stone Johnson Community School in Minneapolis is a part-time role ($17/hour) with after-school and summer program responsibilities, including a YMCA membership. You will help plan enrichment activities, supervise staff and volunteers, track attendance, and promote the program to families and schools.

Beacons focuses on youth development for kindergarten–12th grade, within a collaborative community initiative across several neighborhoods.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Experience or education in youth studies, child development, human relations, or recreation.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate youth development programming.
• Strong interpersonal and mediation skills.
• Willingness to work with diverse populations.
• Commitment to working with school-age children in enrichment settings.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement enrichment curriculum and program activities with a group of young people.
• Provide work direction to program staff and volunteers while on duty.
• Evaluate the program on a continuous basis and recommend changes to the Beacons Sr. Coordinator/Program Director.
• Ensure that the center and classroom spaces are kept clean and organized.
• Perform administrative activities to support the program, including collecting daily attendance.
• Assist in the promotion of the program including recruiting youth and communicating with families and school staff.
