Job summary

Brains and Motion Education is seeking a high-energy After School - Youth Program Instructor to lead STEAM projects, arts, and active games for K–8 students at local schools in California. You will facilitate daily homework sessions, supervise groups, ensure safety, and transport/setup materials.

Requires 48 college units, 1–2 years youth instruction, Live Scan clearance, reliable transportation, and afternoon availability 1:00 PM–6:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college semester units or higher education.
• 1–2 years of experience instructing or mentoring youth in STEM, arts, or athletic settings.
• Proven ability to manage groups of K–8 students and foster positive behavior.
• Clearance: Live Scan/background check required.

In this role, you will cultivate an encouraging space where K–8 students stay active, curious, and supported throughout the afternoon.Key ResponsibilitiesActivity Leadership: Lead structured STEAM experiments, hands-on creative art projects, and active sports/recreational games.Academic Support: Facilitate dedicated daily homework sessions and assist students with assignments.Student Safety & Engagement: Maintain active supervision, manage group dynamics in grades K–8, and foster a safe, inclusive atmosphere.Structured Recess & Play: Direct outdoor recreational play and guided recess activities to keep students energized and engaged.Site Preparation: Transport, set up, and clean up necessary program materials and equipment for daily sessions.QualificationsEducation: Minimum of 48 college semester units (or 2 years of higher education), an associate degree or higher, or proof of meeting ESSA standards via a local assessment test.Experience: 1–2 years of experience instructing, mentoring, or working with youth in STEM, creative arts, or athletic settings.Classroom Management: Proven ability to manage groups of K–8 students and foster positive behavior.Identification & Mobility: Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) and reliable transportation to travel to assigned school locations.Clearance: Ability to pass a mandatory Live Scan / background check process.Physical Demands: Ability to occasionally lift and move program materials weighing 20–50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodations).Availability: Available Monday through Friday afternoons between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.Position DetailsPay Rate: $25/hourJob Type: Part TimeSchedule: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM - Wed 12:30 PM to 6:00 PMBrains and Motion Education is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive work environment.
