Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a part-time Teacher’s Aide in Granby, CT. Under the Head Teacher’s direction you will assist in daily activity delivery and work directly with children, upholding YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Ideal candidates enjoy teamwork, have prior child experience, and commit to ongoing training and certifications. This role emphasizes inclusive, anti-racist practices and strong communication with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Certification in Connecticut Child Care, Adult & Child CPR within 90 days of employment.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Positive interaction with children and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Teacher in preparing and delivering daily activities.
• Engage with children during activities and playtimes.
• Communicate problems or concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of information from parents, staff and administration.
• Report any evidence of child abuse to supervisor immediately.
• Attend required training hours per year per state law/standards.
• Foster friendly, courteous support and build positive relationships with parents and children.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and team collaboration.
