Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro seeks a Youth Development Professional for TK and Kinder to create a nurturing after-school environment where children explore, learn, and build confidence through guided play and hands-on activities.

You will support early literacy, social-emotional development, and foundational skills while collaborating with a team in a school-based site. This is a part-time, on-site role following the school calendar, with compensation $20-$25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and emotional intelligence with young children.
• Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate environment.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing transitions and structured learning.
• High emotional intelligence and integrity, with a deep understanding of early social-emotional development.
• Ability to connect authentically with young children, building trust through warmth and engagement.

Responsibilities

• Engaged supervision to keep children safe and supported.
• Facilitate play-based learning experiences that promote language, literacy, math concepts, and social-emotional growth.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate activities and adapt based on individual needs.
• Create a positive learning environment with predictable routines and gentle guidance.
• Build positive relationships through warmth, encouragement, and individualized attention.
• Oversee daily operations including transitions, snack, rest, toileting, and play.
• Collaborate with team to share observations and adjust strategies.
• Be flexible and assist with various needs to ensure a positive experience.
