Job summary

The Youth Development Professional – TK and Kinder will support after-school programming at Monroe Elementary in San Leandro. You’ll create a nurturing, playful environment that promotes early literacy, language development, and social-emotional growth through guided play and hands-on activities.

This part-time, on-site role requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to adapt activities for diverse learners.

Qualifications

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Patience, flexibility, and emotional intelligence with young children.
Ability to maintain a safe, structured environment.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
Ability to manage transitions and maintain focus in a fast-paced setting.
Demonstrated empathy and integrity in interactions with children.

Responsibilities

Engaged Supervision – Maintain a secure, nurturing environment for children.
Facilitate engaging, play-based activities that support language, literacy, and social-emotional growth.
Adapt and implement developmentally appropriate lessons based on needs.
Create a positive learning environment with routines and model behavior.
Collaborate with teammates to share observations and adjust strategies.
Be flexible and provide support across daily activities and scheduling.
