Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro is seeking a Youth Development Professional for TK and Kinder to support after-school learning in a nurturing, play-based environment.

The role is part-time and on-site, following the school-year calendar. You will supervise, guide activities, and collaborate with a diverse team to promote literacy, social-emotional growth, and positive relationships among young learners.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and emotional intelligence when working with young children.
• Clear communication and collaboration with team members and families.
• Ability to maintain a safe, structured environment for early learners.
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to manage transitions and adapt activities in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with children and caregivers.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting diverse youth.
• Willingness to support school-year calendar with seasonal adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaged supervision in a safe, nurturing environment for early learners.
• Lead play-based, language, literacy, and social-emotional activities.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate lessons and adapt based on needs.
• Create a positive, predictable learning environment with routines.
• Build strong relationships with youth and families through warmth and support.
• Oversee daily operations, transitions, snack time, and rest periods.
• Collaborate with teammates to observe and adjust programming.
