Job summary

BGCDC is seeking a Youth Development Professional for the 2026-2027 school year at our Madison sites. The role leads an after-school group for ages 5-12, planning engaging activities, ensuring safety, and promoting high-quality program experiences.

The position requires a High School Diploma/GED/HSED, 18+ years old, and a track record of working with youth. Hours are part-time with occasional evenings or weekends for special events.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with youth from ages 5-13
• Problem-Solving Skills
• Field Trip Supervision
• At least 18 years of age
• Eligibility as a Caregiver by the Department of Children and Families
• Successful completion of drug test, physical examination
• The ability and desire to work with youth in a variety of settings
• Strong verbal, written, and communication skills
• Program Leader Certified within 3 months of accepting role (training provided)
• CPR within 3 months of accepting role (training provided)

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes that foster inclusivity and support members' needs
• Provide positive guidance, role modeling, and daily support to members
• Promote and ensure program participation
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging activities for youth (5-13 years of age), ensuring academic success with grant‑funded outcomes are being met
• Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure high‑quality programming
• Always ensure the physical and emotional safety of members
• Always adhere to regulations as specified in DCF 251 and BGCDC policies
• Provide site and sound supervision to members
• Follow tracking and attendance procedures
• Administer first‑aid and complete necessary documentation
• Uphold the appearance of the Club through a sanitary and organized program space
• Maintain an environment that supports volunteers and community partners
• Contribute to the Club climate for Youth Development including staff meetings and training
• Participate in the Young Star program evaluation process
• Maintain a professional appearance and communicate professionally to represent BGCDC
