Job summary

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is seeking Teaching Assistants to support the day-to-day programming of the 21st Century Learning Center at partner elementary schools. You will help deliver the BellXcel program curriculum, provide homework help, academic enrichment, and family engagement events.

The program runs 2:45pm-6:00pm, Monday-Thursday. Experience facilitating afterschool programming and a passion for youth development are valued as you contribute to a welcoming and inclusive learning

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience facilitating out-of-school-time programming, preferably within underserved communities.
• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Academic skills – proficiency in elementary math and literacy.
• Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with diverse populations.
• Ability to build relationships and influence scholars, staff, community members & families.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Love and respect for children.

Responsibilities

• Supports the delivery of relevant and engaging lessons in groups of 12 to 24 students.
• Works closely with supervisors and teachers to develop and implement strategies for student success.
• Prepares and organizes program supplies and tracks student attendance.
• Implements classroom and behavior management strategies to consistently develop a safe and productive learning environment.
• Ensures proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada’s Youth Development policies and procedures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
