Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking an After-school Certified tutor to provide targeted tutoring and skill development for students. The role involves preparing individualized tutoring plans and supporting intervention strategies in collaboration with classroom teachers.

The position emphasizes student assessment, data collection, and effective instructional practices to promote academic growth and positive outcomes outside regular school hours.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or 48 semester hours minimum.
• ParaPro Assessment Test passing or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans for each student detailing individual goals and enrichment activities for home and school.
• Develops and assists students with academic exercises and class activities, focusing on small groups or individuals as needed.
• Compiles, prepares, and organizes materials and classroom for instruction and other learning activities.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists the teacher with instruction and daily routines, skills and concepts.
• Provides instructional support to students identified as needing tutoring services.
• Utilizes effective instructional practices, behavior management, assessment techniques and directed teaching methods.
• Collects and compiles data for accountability and program development.
• Collects, organizes and completes information for reports and evaluation.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with teachers.
