Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking energetic team members to join the Y-Kids Program, a structured before and after school program that nurtures curiosity through STEM-inspired activities, healthful snacks, and positive reinforcement.

As part of the team, you will guide curriculum delivery, support children’s learning and growth, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure a safe, engaging environment aligned with YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; AA or Bachelors preferred.
• Meets CA state licensing requirements including 12 ECE units.
• 1 year of experience in a professional child care or school-aged program.
• Pre-employment health screening and TB clearance.
• LiveScan fingerprint and criminal record clearance.
• Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications or completed within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, plan and implement curriculum within guidelines and prepare supplies.
• Work cooperatively with staff to ensure program quality.
• Provide direction to Assistant Teachers/Teacher's Aides as needed.
• Support child development by promoting growth and exploration.
• Attend to health and well-being; provide first aid and report incidents promptly.
• Use appropriate discipline methods reinforcing positive behaviors.
• Document notable behavior and communicate with supervisor per policies.
• Maintain open communication with families and school personnel.
• Keep program records and participate in trainings and events.
• Keep center clean and presentable and ensure licensing standards are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
