Job summary

Manhattan Youth is seeking several part-time After-school Teachers/Activities Specialists to lead STEM and general science enrichment activities at multiple sites in Manhattan. Roles run Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00pm, September through June, following the NYC DOE schedule; compensation is $44/hour.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of teaching experience with children, a passion for hands-on learning, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

2+ years teaching experience with middle or elementary school children, after-school setting preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience with educational technology instruction and practice.
Ability to build positive relationships with families, students and coworkers of diverse backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Design program curriculum with Education Directors.
Create lesson plans aligned with class descriptions and goals.
Structure instruction to promote project-based learning.
Plan activities and materials for daily schedule and lead activities.
Maintain safety of groups of children during activities and field trips; address emergencies.
Attend staff meetings and complete training requirements.
Collaborate to foster a positive community and showcase student work.
Follow NYC DOE schedule and hours (2:00–6:00pm).
