Job summary

After School All-Stars LA is seeking a part-time Program Leader to support in the city of Los Angeles. The role focuses on leading and assisting in planning and implementing the daily after-school program, ensuring a safe, engaging environment for K-12 youth after school hours.

The position requires experience with youth, strong communication, and the ability to work with school staff and families. Core hours are 2:00pm–6:30pm; evenings and some weekends may be needed; travel to sites may occur.

Qualifications

• Experience with students in grades K-12 in recreational/educational settings.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, parents and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to incidents during emergencies.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Criminal record clearance by fingerprinting prior to working with youth.
• TB test clearance.
• Physical ability to lead structured activities.
• Fluency in a language other than English is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program under supervision.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio using recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop positive relationships with youth, guardians, and school staff.
• Provide attendance tracking data and program progress to supervisor.
• Prepare supplies and create a creative learning environment.
• Supervise students during activities to ensure safety and engagement.
• Communicate with school staff and guardians about activities and events.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Be part of a team to run program operations and assist as needed.
