Big Ideas Educational Services seeks a Security Guard for its after-school program in Miami. You will support safety, attendance accountability, and orderly operations while greeting families and enforcing program procedures.

As a highly visible member of the site team, you will learn and use Brightwheel daily, monitor entrances, assist with arrivals/dismissals, and respond to safety concerns with professionalism and calm under pressure.

Qualifications

Must be a current MDCPS employee.
High school diploma or higher.
Must pass Level 2 background screening and clearance.
1–2 years experience in school, childcare, youth program, security, or related environment preferred.
Experience working with elementary-aged students and families preferred.
Willingness to learn and use Brightwheel.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to greet and communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, students, staff, and visitors.
Patience, good judgment, and appropriate authority with children.
Ability to build positive professional relationships with students, families, school personnel, and Big Ideas staff.
Ability to follow established security, attendance, arrival, and dismissal procedures.
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct.
Consistent attendance and punctuality required.

Responsabilités

Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout program areas and premises.
Patrol designated areas to identify and address safety or security concerns.
Monitor entrances, exits, doors, gates, and access points during program hours.
Monitor and authorize entry/exit of staff, families, visitors, vendors, and others per procedures.
Help prevent unauthorized individuals from entering program areas.
Support safe, organized student arrival and dismissal procedures.
Learn and consistently utilize Brightwheel for daily operations.
Assist with verifying attendance, arrivals, and authorized pickups via Brightwheel.
Ensure students are signed in/out and report discrepancies to the Site Manager.
Follow procedures for authorized pickups and student release.
Greet and engage with families to create a welcoming environment.
Communicate clearly with parents and caregivers.
Address family questions by directing to the appropriate team member.
Maintain professionalism and boundaries when communicating with students and families.
Assist with managing parent/authorized pickup traffic during dismissal.
Stay alert to unusual activity and report concerns to site leadership.
Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies and contact emergency services when required.
Help maintain order and protect people and property.
Follow safety procedures for emergencies, evacuations, and lockdowns.
Collaborate with Site Manager and staff to address safety concerns.
Follow schedules and complete incidents documentation promptly.
Attend meetings, Brightwheel training, safety training, and site meetings.
