Job summary

Big Ideas Educational Services is seeking a dependable Security Guard who is a current MDCPS employee to help maintain a safe, orderly environment during after-school hours. The role supports campus access control, monitors entrances, responds to alarms, and collaborates with staff to ensure a positive, welcoming atmosphere for students and families.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma, a clean Level II background, and the ability to communicate clearly and remain calm in busy

Qualifications

• Must be a current MDCPS employee.
• High School Diploma or higher.
• Clear Level II background screening.
• 1-2 years of experience working with children or in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, and program areas
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, students, parents, and visitors
• Maintain visibility during student dismissal and parent pick-up procedures
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
• Contact police or fire departments in cases of emergency (fire, medical emergency, unauthorized persons, etc.)
• Circulate among students, visitors, and staff to preserve order and protect property
• Follow all school-site safety procedures, including arrival and dismissal protocols
• Adhere to schedules as assigned by the Site Manager
• Follow the established chain of command as outlined in the Staff Handbook
• Participate in weekly team meetings as required
• Support site staff in maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment
• Respond to parent questions and concerns in a professional, calm, and courteous manner
