Job summary

Foothills Children’s Programs seeks a part-time Program Leader to supervise and run after-school activities for ages 5-12. The role includes planning crafts, science, and outdoor games, while ensuring a safe, organized environment from 2:15/2:30pm to 6:00pm on school days; extended hours during breaks up to 6:00pm.

The ideal candidate is 18+, has at least 460 hours of childcare experience, and can obtain CPR/First Aid and background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.
• Minimum 460 hours of documented experience working with children.
• Knowledge, understanding, and application of positive classroom management skills, positive reinforcement and child redirection.
• Be able to obtain trainings required to work in a licensed childcare environment (CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter Training, Playground Safety, Injury Prevention and Medication Administration, plus 15 hours annual training).
• Pass TRAILS and CBI/FBI fingerprint background checks for working in licensed childcare.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily supervision and care of youth ages 5-12.
• Maintain a safe environment for program participants and ensure safety precautions are followed during programs, field trips, and excursions.
• Facilitate activities such as arts, science, building and dramatic play in a classroom setting or gross motor games in gym or outside.
• Assist in daily set-up and delivery of program by organizing routines, snacks and meals, playground supervision, and care of materials and supplies.
• Collaborate with other after school staff to plan activities and create an enjoyable work environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor, teammates and families; maintain confidentiality.
• Cultivate an inviting and nurturing environment for every child.
• Build trusting relationships and exercise good judgment with children, families, and co-workers.
• Use positive behavior reinforcement and developmentally appropriate guidance techniques.
• Be reliable and punctual and flexible in a dynamic work environment.
