Job summary

City of Oxnard’s Cultural and Community Services Department is seeking an After School Program Specialist to join the Recreation Division. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, strong communication, and a passion for delivering engaging youth programs.

You will support Oxnard Scholars and Hueneme SHINE after-school initiatives, supervise staff and volunteers, coordinate sites, track attendance, and ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-quality program environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree (or 60 units) in a related field with 1 year of related experience is acceptable.
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate after-school programming at designated school site.
• Supervise staff, instructors, and volunteers.
• Communicate daily with site staff, parents, and students.
• Plan and direct program operations to meet standards.
• Attend meetings with district and city program staff.
• Maintain program records, enrollment, and attendance.
