Job summary

Urbana School District #116 – Thomas Paine Elementary School is seeking an After School Programming Support Staff to assist with the 21st CCLC program at Thomas Paine Elementary in Urbana, Illinois. This stipend position reports to the teaching staff and coordinators and supports small-group activities, behavior management, and daily program operations.

Qualifications include an Associate degree or 60 college hours, and a preference for a Bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience working in a school setting.
• Prior experience working for USD 116 Afterschool Program is preferred.
• Internal applicants only.
• De-escalation strategies, social and emotional learning strategies, and relationship building skills.
• Leadership skills.
• Position requires self-initiative and active engagement and participation throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
• Actively participate in the program, contribute to daily instruction, and complete all assigned tasks.
• Initiate and encourage students attending the program. Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
• Ask for guidance and assistance from the teacher and/or coordinator when unable to assist a student.
• Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
• Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior.
• Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
• Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
• Work with small groups on skill-building activities
• Perform other specialized duties as assigned. (i.e. taking attendance, snack counts, program arrival and departure times)
