Job summary

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Urbana, Illinois seeks After School Programming Support Staff for the 2026-2027 school year. This hourly position runs September 8, 2026 to April 29, 2027, Tuesday through Thursday, with hours to be determined by the coordinator.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credits required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience in a school setting.
• Experience with USD 116 Afterschool Program preferred.
• Internal applicants only.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions and reteach information to students participating in the program.
• Participate in daily instruction and complete all assigned tasks.
• Engage students attending the program and maintain positive relationships with staff.
• Ask for guidance from teachers/coordinator when needed.
• Monitor and supervise students in assigned areas of the school.
• Support positive behavior approaches and use de-escalation strategies.
• Arrive and depart on time for scheduled work.
• Work with small groups on skill-building activities.
• Perform other duties (attendance, snack counts, arrival/departure times).
