Job summary

Neighborhood House is seeking an entry-level School Age Professional to support teachers and students in its after-school program at several Portland elementary schools. The Assistant Program Leader helps implement curriculum, guide socio-emotional development, and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Role focuses on hands-on activities, homework support, and collaboration with the Program Leader and Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Dedicated, reliable, organized with a strong interest in working with children and education.
• Ability to use MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.
• Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Ability to analyze and problem-solve.

Responsibilities

• Assist with homework and group activities in a 15:1 setting under supervision.
• Support lesson planning and classroom setup with teachers.
• Manage routine administrative duties (copies, payments, etc.).
• Communicate with parents professionally via drop-off/pick-up.
