Job summary

YMCA of the Pines seeks a School's Out Counselor to support planning and implementing activities for groups of children before and after school. The role emphasizes safety, growth, and skill development within the program and requires engagement with families and staff.

The position involves assisting with activities, supervising group dynamics, and upholding state licensing standards. CPR/First Aid/AED training and background checks are mandatory within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Background checks clearance is required.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate children.
• Strong communication with parents, children and staff.
• Knowledge of supervising and ensuring child safety.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required or completed within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to lead in activities such as sports, games, crafts or academics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing and participating in all activities while ensuring a quality program.
• Support Site Supervisor with greeting children and parents and maintaining equipment and supplies.
• Attend staff meetings, workshops, and trainings as required by state guidelines.
• Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with parents and children.
• Adhere to program and state licensing standards, including safety and cleanliness.
• Follow YMCA policies, including safety, discipline, and emergencies.
