Job summary

Somerville Public Schools seeks an energetic staff member to support after-school and out-of-school time care for Pre-K through 8th grade. You will lead activities, supervise campers, and help create a safe, engaging environment aligned with SCAP policies.

The position emphasizes teamwork, family engagement, and adherence to program schedules during the school year and summer sessions. Benefits eligible and part-time hours available.

Qualifications

• Experience actively participating with project based curriculum.
• Ability to set clear limits and supervise school age students.
• Experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards for after-school programs.
• Familiarity with SCAP policies and Somerville Public Schools curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Lead small and large group activities.
• Supervise and interact with children.
• Discipline children in accordance with SCAP policy.
• Maintain classroom environment and supplies.
• Follow procedures to safeguard health and safety.
• Cooperate to team teach with colleagues.
• Build positive relationships with families.
• Attend weekly team meetings and participate in parent meetings.
