Job summary

Somerville Public Schools is seeking staff for its After School and Out of School Time Care programs serving Pre-K through 8th grade. The role covers September through June with summer responsibilities including orientation and daily supervision.

You will lead activities, supervise children, and maintain safe, enriching environments. The position is part-time (up to 19 hours/week) with non-benefits-eligible status and an hourly wage listed as $21.13–$24.02.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree with 3 months experience with school age children
• High School Diploma with 9 months experience including 3 months supervised experience at a school age child care program
• Experience actively participating with project based curriculum
• Ability to set clear limits and supervise school age students
• Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
• Ability work with students with special educational or emotional needs

Responsibilities

• Lead small and large group activities
• Supervise and interact with children
• Discipline children in accordance with SCAP policy
• Maintain classroom environment including set up and maintenance of supplies
• Follow program procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children
• Ability to cooperatively team teach
• Build positive relationship with families
• Other duties as assigned
• Attend weekly team meetings
• Communicate regularly with Administration
• Attend monthly meetings and a least 10 hours of in-service workshops
• Participate in parent meetings and events

Education

Associate’s Degree with three months experience working with school age children
