Job summary

Sioux Falls YMCA is seeking a dedicated K-5 After School Program Site Assistant for JFK, Discovery, Oscar Howe, Pettigrew, and Hayward Elementary Schools for the 2026/2027 school year. You will help run safe, structured activities, support behavior management, and supervise students in a positive environment.

The role offers a part-time schedule (2:00pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday) with opportunities for growth and professional development within a community-focused organization.

Qualifications

• Experience with children in school, camp, or childcare settings preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to assist in managing student behaviors and reinforcing positive expectations.
• Reliable, flexible, and able to step in where needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Site Coordinator in implementing daily lessons and activities.
• Assist with behavior management using positive reinforcement and redirection strategies.
• Ensure safety and supervision of all children at all times.
• Help facilitate transitions between activities and maintain the schedule.
• Encourage participation and foster a positive, inclusive environment for all students.
• Help with classroom organization, setup, and cleanup to maintain a structured learning space.
• Communicate effectively with staff to ensure smooth program operations.
• Model professionalism and enthusiasm for students.
