Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd invites applications for an Assistant Group Leader to support and assist staff in delivering planned educational and enrichment activities in our after-school program in New York. The role requires helping with sports, arts and crafts, supervising youth, and maintaining a safe environment.

The position is scheduled for School Year hours: 2 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Reliable and consistent work habits.
Available during the program hours listed above (2 pm–6 pm).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
Commitment to work from a youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports, recreation, educational, arts and crafts and special events.
Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
Supervise participants throughout afterschool program.
Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
Support activity instructors with lessons.
Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Follow all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
