Job summary

Salvation Army in Memphis at the Kroc Center is seeking a Recreation Assistant to execute planned activities for youth and adults, oversee the game room, and support day camp and after-school programs. You will maintain attendance records, help keep the facility clean, and ensure a safe, orderly environment.

The role requires prior experience working with children and the ability to lift and be active in indoor/outdoor recreation settings, with emphasis on safety and positive engagement.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must have prior experience working with children

• Gathers and sets up appropriate supplies and materials for planned recreational activities; ensures the children participants’ safety in utilizing the same.
• Enforces all rules that pertain to the camp, children’s program, and facility on a constant basis.
• Organizes and supervises recreational activities; observes, monitors, and supervises participants; maintains control of the participants and when needed displays proper discipline techniques
• Ensures the safety and protection of participants at all times

Job Details: Job Location: KT-Memphis KROC Center - Memphis, TN 38104, Job Category: Recreation, This position is responsible for:

Executes planned activities for participants, both youth and adults, which may include Day Camp Program, after-school programs, and recreational classes; provides oversight of the game room as needed; make suggestions for planned recreational activities and play time; maintains program records, i.e. attendance records, parent sign in and out log; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Kroc Center Property.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Meets attendance requirements
• Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs;
• Must be willing and able to swim, get wet, and/or subject to getting dirty while working with children.
• Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
