Job summary

Behavioral-Emotional- is seeking a part-time staff member to support students with special needs in the Downey Unified School District. Work hours are 1:30 pm to 6:15 pm, Monday through Friday, with location variations across district sites.

You will help plan and deliver instructional activities, reinforce learning, and assist with classroom technology, behavior management, and hygiene supports under supervision. Experience with youth groups or child centers is desirable.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or equivalent, or A.A. degree or 48 college units, or pass Paraeducator Exam.
• Complete mandatory RBT training (provided).
• Complete mandatory BEAM training.
• COVID-19 vaccination or weekly testing required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to students with special needs.
• Assist in planning and developing instructional activities and materials.
• Support after-school program activities in-class and centers.
• Maintain organized, clean classroom and restroom areas.
• Assist with classroom technology and adaptive devices as needed.
• Reinforce lessons with small groups and support social skills.
• Assist with crisis intervention and discipline under supervision.
• Attend program planning meetings as requested.
